Thanks and so much gratitude to everyone in Denver who joined together this Earth Month. Our collective impact shows that we can change things for the better. I learned a lot from everyone's posts and from the challenges themselves. I hope that we will all continue to grow our sustainable habits and learn more as the year goes on. See you all next Earth Month!

What is easy for you to do when having a constructive conversation and what is challenging? What tips do you have for having a constructive conversation?

It is easy for me to express my ideas when having constructive conversation. The challenge for me is to provide negative feedback.
In my opinion, it helps anyone to have a constructive conversation by listening carefully to the other person, being mindful in the moment and showing empathy & compassion.

What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

In my opinion, the culture of spending most of its time inside and on screens can cause dangerous implications like obesity, lack of connectedness with "real" human beings, lack of empathy and compassion, increased stress levels and thereby health issues.

What was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?

Practicing mindfulness throughout this one month has learnt me the difference between "focusing" vs "refocusing". As I have heard Justin, the mindfulness coach say "Focusing" is a choice whereas "Refocusing" is a skill.
We all choose to focus on something and tend to get distracted but practicing the mindfulness teaches us the skill of "refocusing", conditioning our thoughts to come back to the subject.

How does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?

Practicing work-life balance helps me in prioritizing the tasks better,  in achieving less stressful life and enjoying the present moment.
In my opinion, practicing the work-life balance by everyone contributes greatly to the sustainability because the world seem to move at a really faster pace and people don't really seem to enjoy the present moment. Always trying to chase more, want more and run behind things without really thinking whether they "need" it or "want" it. Taking a break , pausing and rethinking about priorities can help everyone greatly.

I wanted to highlight 2 interesting things I discovered when zooming in on my region (Colorado Springs) that I want to dig deeper into: 1) There are 6 solar energy resources here, and 2) There are miles and miles of abandoned railroad (20+ miles!)

Why is it important to honor native and indigenous peoples and cultures? What have you learned that is important to you? If you identify with or are a member of an indigenous group, how does your community practice sustainability?

I really liked the article on cultural appropriation vs. cultural appreciation.  I found the example the author gave insightful: If you want to buy your baby a pair of little moccasins, buy them from a legitimate organization that has been federally or state recognized as a certified tribal artisan.

Big thanks to Sarah Braden for hosting the green investing Earth Week event. Some ideas were: research where your money is going and divest from fossil fuels / other destructive investments. Slalom offers 1 portfolio that considers social/climate impacts that I'll be switching to. (The Green Team is also considering pushing Slalom for more options). Another method: support non-profits/coalitions that demand change & responsibility from climate-destructive companies by becoming company shareholders.
