How have you reduced your purchasing habits and what would you like to do next to reduce your consumption habits?

After checking my purchases for a month, I realized that I am purchasing fast delivered grocery very often, which makes me pay more in general and lose the opportunity to make my own healthy & reduced-waste meals. I started going into groceries for bulk purchases, selecting food mindfully and reduce my wastes.

What was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?

I used to practice mindfulness 1-2 times a week, but it was no longer a habit for me during last 2-3 months. Eco-challenge check-ins reminded me of doing it each day, I felt so much more in peace with people I integrate with, myself and my surroundings. I am sure I will continue sparing some time to wind down & breathe!

Have been picking almost only vegetarian/vegan options when going out to restaurants in New York, it's been fun trying to foods and seeing restaurants be creative with innovative dishes and flavors :)

My biggest challenge was taking time out of my day to educate myself on a specific topics around sustainability (e.g., clearning products) or findings ways to track the carbon footprint of my purchases. But I loved the challenge and sharing my progress and sustinable behavior with my friends and colleagues :)

I've been training for the 5 Boro Bike Tour, and this was my last training day of the month.  It's been great being outdoors... found some awesome trails I never would have known about.

I'm a big believer that Earth Day should be every day and learning should be continuous, not just during Earth Month. It's a bit disappointing to see that companies are solely using earth day as a marketing tool to drive more profits, but, at the end of the day, if that's another way to get consumers involved, educated and more aware, I guess I'll it! :)

What was surprising about the ingredients in your cleaning supplies, personal care, and pet products?

I've been reading a lot of articles on ecological cleaning products, and informing myself. DYI tips for cleaning (e.g., using vinegar and essential oils) are great, but I'm also glad to see big companies like P&G come out with environmentally friendly products (from packaging to ingredients), with their "Nine Elements" line (products that only use 9 ingredients or less). Those are the companies that will bring convenience to the masses, which may be less educated on sustainability and climate change

Action needs to take place at a macro level. Having a metal straw does nothing if big corporations are still unaccountable.
