I wish I could have done better!! This month was rough for me. I will continue to pursue these goals after April 30.

Today is the last day.  Everyday can be an ecochallenge going forward.  I appreciate the resources offered, the encouragement, the collective action.  I'd like to figure out how to localize this in my neighborhood.  We have a monthly newsletter and a listserve so I will start there.

How is food equity and access linked to a sustainable future?

We can't have a sustainable future for some.  We're all interconnected; we all impact climate catastrophe and biodiversity loss and each other.  The "haves" consume more and emit more than the "have nots."  There will be endless conflict and migration unless everyone has food access and general security.

With 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?

I'd like to find a way to get the water out of the faucet to heat faster so that I can reduce the amount of water that runs while I wait.
Also, I want to purchase a rain barrel to collect water to use for my garden.

You could put a bucket under faucet to collect water ( while you wait)& pour it on your trees/grass/plants both inside your house & outside! I did that for showers for some time.. thx for the reminder 😉

Why is it important to honor native and indigenous peoples and cultures? What have you learned that is important to you? If you identify with or are a member of an indigenous group, how does your community practice sustainability?

Great resources.  Native people traditionally have a strong connection with and understanding of Mother Earth, that we are all part of this family. It's important to understand how much history was whitewashed, industrialized society dominated, and how much was lost.   From that understanding, there can be hope for restorative justice and collaboration going forward.

What was one of your most memorable volunteer experiences, and why? What would you like to volunteer for next, and why?

The Food for All program distributes food to counties in Southwest, OH.  When I load up a person's car, they are always so grateful for our service.  It makes me realize how blessed and privileged I am with my food security.  Next, I would like to volunteer somewhere using my teaching skills.

Start a neighborhood compost pile.  Have a battery, Christmas lights, and light bulb drop off in the neighborhood community space.

I tried to inform some of my community members about the Cincy recycle hub- and even suggested we get large recycle/trash containers- the response I got was:”who’s going yo pay for that?”😢

It's always good to join with others -spending the day at the Earth Day event at Summit Park and conversing with lots of people about environmental issues including rights of nature.
