I actually did not realise, before this challenges, how l stopped spending time outside and stopped being aware of the present moment, so I re-learned to spend time outdoors and to be mindful of the present. Also, I realised how toxic some of the cleaning products can be, so I am going to take action and pay more attention to what I buy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Education & Livelihood Take Emerson’s Sustainability Training
What did you think of the training? What new concepts did you learn?

    Eleonora Vinteler's avatar
    Eleonora Vinteler 4/28/2022 6:35 AM
The training is a very good starting point. Then it is up to us to put into practice all the knowledge acquired.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Economy & Communities Meatless Friday/ 15'th of April
Why do you think it is important to eat less meat?

    Eleonora Vinteler's avatar
    Eleonora Vinteler 4/28/2022 6:34 AM
Because the meat industry is one of the biggest polluters.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health & Equity Learn About Gender Diversity
Why is equity for gender diverse individuals important for a just and sustainable society?

    Eleonora Vinteler's avatar
    Eleonora Vinteler 4/28/2022 6:32 AM
Because we are not defined by these false categories, socially constructed or biologically determined. Because choice and freewill are fundamental human rights.

Just landed in Zurich and the airport is...surrounded by forests, so from the get-go I felt nature has its very important place in the lives of people here. It made me think about the respect we owe it.

I spent a lot of time outdoors last week, I actually took the half an hour out every day very seriously, and it was amazing. I know it sounds silly, but I think that being outside, and also being aware of it, works miracles. Strongly recommend it ;)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Climate & Ecosystems Calculate Your Carbon Impact
What is one way you will reduce your carbon foorprint? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your carbon footprint?

If everyone lived like you, we would need

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health & Equity Cleaning Product Ingredients
What was surprising about the ingredients in your cleaning supplies, personal care, and pet products?

    Eleonora Vinteler's avatar
    Eleonora Vinteler 4/05/2022 6:50 AM
Did you know that this is one of the most common ingredient in our shampoos, soaps, etc.?!
    Read more here: https://davidsuzuki.org/queen-of-green/dirty-dozen-sodium-laureth-sulfate/
Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), a related detergent used in cosmetics, is a skin, eye and respiratory tract irritant and toxic to aquatic organisms. vii

Other ethoxylates may be contaminated with ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane. These ingredients usually have chemical names including the letters “eth” (e.g., sodium laureth sulfate).

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health & Equity Spend Time Outside
What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

    Eleonora Vinteler's avatar
    Eleonora Vinteler 4/04/2022 2:03 AM
If you work in front of a screen, make sure you take a break and look away at least every 30 minutes.

Stand up, stretch and move around. When you’re in your chair, back and neck stretches can help keep muscles loose.

Learn a few “chair yoga” moves and practice them for five minutes at frequent intervals throughout the day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Basic Needs & Security Practice A Sharing Economy
What benefits does the sharing economy offer to you and others? If you are a little shy to try, what could be a first step for you?

The sharing economy is an extremely interesting subject, but also timely: with what is going on at our borders, and the generosity some of us displayed, maybe there is room for reflection :)
