Alani Tong 4/25/2022 2:41 PMI just purchased beeswax paper from a small company! Can't wait for my shipment. One step closer to eliminating plastic! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & Communities Learn About & Practice Sustainable FashionHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Alani Tong 4/18/2022 4:12 PMI think a statement piece that is sustainably and ethically sourced is a great way to express yourself. Many clothing styles that are sustainable are misrepresented as bland and monotone. However, by having a staple piece in your closet, you can make it fun by adding accessories to vamp up your style. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & Livelihood Work-Life BalanceHow does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Alani Tong 4/15/2022 9:28 AMI just graduated college and the juggle between school, a job, and extracurriculars was overwhelming. Coming to Deloitte made me realize how to balance my personal and work life. I constantly ask myself, "Who am I outside of my job?"
Practicing this helps me stay motivated, focused, and action-oriented in my day-to-day job. It's still a growing process that is ever evolving. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Equity Cleaning Product IngredientsWhat was surprising about the ingredients in your cleaning supplies, personal care, and pet products?
Alani Tong 4/12/2022 10:06 AMIt has taken me some time to make the switch and it is still a work in progress. A huge change I made was my deodorant. Many deodorants have many harmful chemicals! Since I have sensitive skin, switching deodorants has made a huge impact in my life. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Reduce Single-Use PlasticsWhat plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?
Alani Tong 4/12/2022 9:52 AMI stopped buying water bottles and only drink from my hydroflask. I try to carry my reusable straw with me and bring reusable bags (including small produce bags!) to the grocery store. The most important aspect of sustainability is using what you have first before making the switch. I currently use k-pods, but once I am done, I will be buying whole coffee beans and reusing the k-pod insert. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & Security Know Your ProduceWhat surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?
Alani Tong 4/11/2022 3:09 PMI'm starting to invest in organic vegetables and fruits. Also, I like to do my research on where my produce is being grown. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & Security Take 5-Minute Or Less ShowersWith 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?
Alani Tong 4/11/2022 3:07 PMI'm taking shorter showers and washing/drying clothes during non-peak hours!
