My Earth Day extended into my weekend - I spent Friday enjoying nature (even though I was working!). Saturday I spent volunteering at the Earth Day event in town. I was out in the sunshine for 4 hours and then went home and planted my garden! It was a perfect day. Sunday I spent with friends and then back out finishing up garden planting. I capped the day with some delicious Impossible spicy sausage.

Happy Earth Day!!! This is what I have been looking forward to all month! I am in a separate challenge and we are working to upcycle 3 items today! I've also hugged a tree and used a completely plastic-free shower & face care routine this morning! I cannot wait to see what else today brings.

I cannot believe that we are almost halfway through Earth Month!! I have learned so much this month about my choices, my actions, and how I can better support the earth! On top of the eco challenge options, I am also partaking in an online challenge through instagram and I am so happy to have made even a small difference.

These SDG's made me incredibly sad - I want to be able to help everyone affected. But, having compassion for other people on Earth can lead to action. I hope that other people read through these and see that women, children, and the people from poor countries need our help. I want to see ways to participate and make a difference on these rather than just the statistics.

I'm volunteering with my city's Earth Day campaign & fundraising event on April 23rd! I will be a "rubbish wrangler" but it's going to be such a fun away to get involved and ensure the success of the event. I also love to volunteer with the River Compact to clean up trash along the river banks!

I've planned a mini-staycation. We will be staying home in Nashville, but experiencing the city. There's so much to do here that I just haven't done yet! I even found a walking tour to learn about the ghosts of the city. Plus a walk through a plantation home where we can bring our own picnic lunch!

Health & Equity Learn About Participation and Representation
What are some of the barriers that exist to women and girl's equitable participation or representation in your community? Do you experience these barriers?

This was so impactful. I live in the South (American South) and I have seen more struggles in the workplace here than anywhere else. Women are afraid to speak up because of the inherent "male-centric" view here. I don't know if it is because of the old-school ideals/traditions, but I have personally felt oppressed in my roles in my corporate jobs since moving here. I have had a few other women say the same thing after I mention it, but never before. Almost as if they are ashamed to voice these feelings or to rock the boat. As women, we need to stand together and stand up for our voices.

These were all very interconnected! Without a safe, sustainable, and resilient place to live kids cannot go to school. Without schooling, people are less likely to grow into a successful career.

I got to learn a bit about transportation and renewable energy. We need to rely more on renewable energy plus we need more options for public transportation instead of individualized single transport.

I can't wait to begin using the morningstar sustainability rating on all of my current investments! I would love to invest more and see what else I can do to invest ethically and sustainably!
