Warren King 4/27/2022 2:46 PMMy goals related to everyday actions are going well. My goals to learn about the macro & micro systems that my choices impact is not going as well. Finding the time has been challenging. However that this month is all about; to challenge ourselves and to create new habits. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Equity Practice MindfulnessWhat was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?
Warren King 4/18/2022 6:13 AMIt begins with being present each day to how I'm feeling. I listen to the chirp of birds, wind chimes and anything else that is part of present. I don't so much try to shut them out; I allow them to be a part of the tapestry of the moment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & Security Get To Know Your WatershedWhat watershed do you live in presently? What is something interesting or unique about your watershed?
Warren King 4/16/2022 10:44 AMUpper Mississippi River Basin. Near Minneapolis. I was surprised that none of the streams or discharge points in my community watershed are in god condition. All are either impaired or condition unknown. The principle impairment is salt...not surprisingly! I'm familiar with plant by-products that enhance the ability of salt to melt snow & ice at lower temperatures. This reduces the amount of salt that needs to be used. I will find out if my municipality uses these products. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Equity Communicate ConstructivelyWhat is easy for you to do when having a constructive conversation and what is challenging? What tips do you have for having a constructive conversation?
Warren King 4/12/2022 5:29 AMIt is easy to listen with the intent to understand. It is more difficult to ask questions instead of offering solutions. My tip; be curious and not judgemental.
