REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & Livelihood Research Impact InvestingAfter learning more about investing, how can you increase positive impacts and decrease negative impacts?
Siobhan de Graaf 4/28/2022 5:20 AMI love how easy ethical investing has become. Collectively, we can make positively influence companies' social and environmental practices, and there isn't a financial downside to this.-
Helena Lam 4/29/2022 6:33 AMGreat insight - it's been found that ESG funds tend to be less volatile during turbulent financial times! Definitely motivates companies (even Guidewire) to do better across social and environmental practices. Been a bit difficult to find any causation between ESG investing and financial returns though as stronger performing companies tend to have better ESG programs.

REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & Security Reduce Animal Product ConsumptionWhat was the tastiest meatless or vegan meal you ever had or had recently? Did you make it? Can you share a recipe?
Siobhan de Graaf 4/22/2022 10:19 AMTastiest meatless meal I've eaten is a Buddha bowl with tofu. I love the tastes and all the colours. I like to do a peanut marinade for the tofu and then combine in a bowl with rice, edamame, purple cabbage, shredded carrot, avocado and sesame seeds. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Ecological & Xeriscape GardeningWhat ecological or xeriscape landscaping practices do you have? How has your landscape changed from these practices?
Siobhan de Graaf 4/21/2022 12:50 PMSince we are getting snow here still we wonèt likely be able to plant before the challenge end, however, weève bought the tools and seeds for native and pollinator-friends plants, grasses and flowers. Looking forward to working on it in May! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place? Was there a new place in your region that was exciting to learn about and visit?
Siobhan de Graaf 4/21/2022 12:47 PMVisit an area near us called Shanty Bay. Hiked along the rail trail, through a small forest behind a church and along the lake. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & Livelihood Plan A Staycation in Your CommunityWhat place in your region are you most excited to visit during your staycation?

REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Support Local PollinatorsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?
Siobhan de Graaf 4/06/2022 10:15 AMI think there will be many things we can do as a family this year to take of pollinators, especially bees, flies, birds and butterflies. We will be planting lots this year (flowers, vegetables and vines) and will use the pollinator guide for our ecoregion to determines the best ones. We will also consider how to leave spaces "untidy" on our property. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Calculate Your Carbon ImpactWhat is one way you will reduce your carbon foorprint? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your carbon footprint?
Siobhan de Graaf 4/06/2022 9:55 AMA few investments this year will be a smart in-ground irrigation system to reduce water and purchasing a hybrid vehicle. As a family, we will choose to vacation within Canada and avoid air travel.
