I could try to emphasis recycling initiatives on campus to my friends, and try to adhere better to them myself. We have lots of good systems in place, but drawing more attention to them might increase their effectiveness.

Central PA is still heavily reliant on fuels like natural gas and coal, neither of which are renewable.

One way I'll reduce my carbon footprint is by making sure I'm not using an excessive amount of electricity if I don't need to. One way that I am currently reducing my carbon footprint is by making sure that I either minimize the amount of travel I do by car or try to carpool when I need to go out.

I can invest in companies with stronger corporate social responsibility initiatives and inform other like-minded people about companies with high CSR to increase positive impacts and then devest in companies that don't show strong commitments to those values.

I would love to be able to use induction cooking, it seems far more efficient and easier to maintain than other more widely used cooking surfaces. I haven't ever used one though.

    Zach Slusser 4/30/2022 7:10 PM
One very important thing that I learned is that landlords can't just evict renters at any time for any reason.

I will be more aware of when I leave the faucet on while I do dishes and make sure that I'm not using more than I reasonably need to. One thing I've been already doing is working on cutting down the length of my showers.

I think it really just helped me center myself well. I struggle with anxiety and being present sometimes, and this was a good way of bringing myself back to the here and now.

How does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?

Practicing a work-life balance creates a more sustainable life for me because it provides me with the energy to think more intently about other aspects of how I live, which can allow me to really focus on living more sustainably. I think that a better work-life balance for everyone could cause people to have similarly fewer time constraints, which will in turn allow them to think more about how they live and then make adjustments as needed from there. I think that current work culture forces us to live at a pace and at a means that is focused around just getting ourselves through the day, and by allowing ourselves a better balance, we can start to prioritize other aspects of life as well.
