Food equity and access is directly dependent on the ability to increase and improve food security, and improving food security cannot be done solely by increasing agricultural output. Rather a systematic approach is needed - a core concept of such a systematic approach would be that food systems be democratically controlled and community stakeholders invest in and support a community food system. A community food system by definition is sustainable because it involves working within the context of a soil-to-soil system that enables the end-to-end production, distribution, processing, access, food consumption, and food waste management. 

Most excited to visit the local climbing walls and find new camping spots during our staycation. Eventually most excited to go whale watching soon off the coast of this wonderful state! 

Something I've always dabbled with in and out, setting goals and this time to focus during earth month has reminded me that checking in with myself and prioritizing my health has benefits everywhere. 

Two of the tastiest sustainable seafood meals I've ever had, one was off a boat in Mauritius where the guides spearfished and roasted them on sticks over a fire. The other was from eating and Sushi Kashiba in Washington that uses sustainable and locally caught fish.

Today I celebrated a work-life balance by setting some time aside to go to the rock climbing gym. Getting on the wall and focusing on not only the physical challenge but also mental challenge of climbing while appreciating the balance between strength and movement that is needed to reach the top of the wall helps me reset. By resetting I can check in with myself mentally and emotionally and avoid burnout at work. By showing up for myself and allow the space to show up for others.
