The Callery Pear tree will no longer be sold in Ohio effective 2023 as a decorative tree because no local insects feed on them which allows them to overtake areas.  I say good riddance, the blooms are pretty but they smell terrible!

I had a meeting with Julie Hoy who is currently running for City Council Ward 6  in Salem--- We discussed how to bring more awareness and what would be appropriate sustainable goals for the ward-- and ultimately the city

I made a purchase from a company named Janji.  The name means "promise" in Indonesian and their promise is to give 2% from every sale to support clean water projects around the world.

When an individual feels like their situation isn't equitable, they struggle. When an individual struggles, society struggles. Your garden can't thrive if a large percentage of the flowers in it aren't blooming their best.

My favorite pollinator would have to be the bumble bee, the teddy bears of the bee world!  I did not know they hibernate underground in the winter and feed as early as February.  I will add early blooming flowers to my beds this year such as Columbine to ensure they have a food source earlier in the year.

Pollinators are near and dear to my heart. I have a top bar hive and keep Italian honeybees - it is mutually beneficial!

During peak pandemic we relied heavily on grocery pickups which we quickly realized came with an enormous amount of plastic waste (does every single lemon need its own bag?). Since then I've tried to forego the convenience factor whenever possible and shop using my own reusable bags.

I've vastly decreased the amount of plastic wrap that we use by investing in some beeswax cloth. Still working on that bad habit with grocery bags, however.

Practicing mindfulness isn't new for me, but this Earth Month challenge has helped me get a routine going that I hope to keep up for the rest of the year!
