Baby diapers, diapers, diapers. Yesterday was a big wake up call in terms of the waste I produce. My son is 1 and is obviously still in diapers. My wife always preferred the reusable diapers, however I preferred just being able to throw the diaper away and be done with it. Now that I am walking around with them... I think I might have a new preference.

What is easy for you to do when having a constructive conversation and what is challenging? What tips do you have for having a constructive conversation?

It can be quite difficult for me to give and take criticism in a constructive way, although I think I have improved greatly with this skill while practicing mindfulness; checking my tone and by body language while having a difficult conversation can make a world of difference.

What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

The negative implication associated with a culture that spends most of its time inside looking at screens is  a society that will most likely face more health issues than a populace that spends more time outside. What can be even more disturbing is the disconnection experienced by those obsessed with digital communication.

When individuals get all of their political takes from others the see on the internet, people can get a very distorted version of the world. It's no surprise that when the COVID lockdowns began, conspiracy theories like Q-Anon became quite popular with the far right, and even some aspects of the new age movement.

What was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?

Practicing mindfulness was relaxing and helpful in my day. Taking a moment to think about my body language and how I am currently speaking not only provides me an easier time in socializing with friends and peers, but  tremendously helps with communication with my family. Being mindful about my waste puts a different perspective on how I consume commodities.

What one thing will you do right away to reduce your waste? What is the second thing you will do?

One thing I realized that is my biggest source of waste is my juul. I go through about 2 boxes per week, each box with 4 pods. The packaging and the pods are just so much waste, to think that precious metal are thrown away with each one, even just a speck of gold or lithium, is too much for me. In the future I will cut down on my juul usage. I buy a lot of video games as well so in the future I will download more of my games.
