Usually I need to repair holes on my kids pants. Before I used to buy some appliques to cover the hole, but the time spent and money spent for the applique made no sence. So I started to combine trouser legs together. Took old pants (any colour, with holes, too short to wear, too ugly to donate) and cut the part without hole to replace part of pants which I wanted to repair. This takes me less time then to use applique, it costs nothing and the biggest bonus is that finally you can lengthen the legs so that children can wear them even longer. Only thing you need think of before is materials which are combined together are similar.

Using rain water to water plants, reduced number of baths by using more showers, did the same request to my kids.

I counted the time and my shower can take less than 3 minutes. I also changed the habit of my three kids, instead of taking bath every day, they started to take shower during the week and they can enjoy bath during weekends. By this change we save 2/3 of water we used for bathing by taking a shower during the week.
