REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodWhat is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?
Lisa Zavetz 4/25/2022 6:19 AMI volunteered at a local beach cleanup. We cleaned up trash that accumulated on the beach to make sure it wouldn't get into the ocean and would go to the proper cleanup channels. One thing you can do is pick up pieces of trash you see on the ground and throwing them away. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?
Lisa Zavetz 4/20/2022 6:34 AMI have already reduced my water usage by not watering my parent's lawn or washing their cars. But taking long showers is the main source of my water usage each day. I can take shorter showers and be more mindful about my time. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat watershed do you live in presently? What is something interesting or unique about your watershed?
Lisa Zavetz 4/20/2022 6:25 AMI am served by the Lower Rahway Watershed. Something interesting is that it covers a small portion of 3 counties in New Jersey and it was likely named after an Indigenous Lenape man. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?
Lisa Zavetz 4/20/2022 6:19 AMI realized that most of my single-use plastics come from packaging from online purchases and takeout food orders. When you ask for items (like salad dressing) on the side, it adds another piece of plastic to the meal. So instead, you can order it as is. I have been conscious about using reusable straws for a while, but it's important to keep them in your car or in a purse so you can always be prepared. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?
Lisa Zavetz 4/04/2022 6:17 AMPollinators are responsible for the food we eat every day. One in three bites we take was pollinated by a honey bee. It's important to plant flowers that pollinators like and are attracted to so they can get plenty of energy to keep doing their job. My favorite pollinator is the honey bee.
