Selective shopping

I use a lot of olive oil in my everyday cooking and most of the bottles in the local stores have switched the glass bottles to plastic. I made a conscious decision to only purchase the glass bottles. However this time my store was out of glass bottles, so I ordered Aluminum canned olive oil to cut down on plastic waste.

I went shopping over the weekend and used my personal shopping bag and did not use the plastic bags.

I agree Tammy, a discount for using your own bags would make a big difference. The only store that I can think of that offers such a discount would be Target. They credit you 5cents per bag on your receipt. I'm sure there are others. If anyone knows of any other stores that offer a discount for using reusable bags please shout it out! Thanks

Plastic bags are a big problem.   I wish others would try using personal bags.  What if stores gave us a discount of some type on our purchase for using our own bags.

Instead of ordering water for the staff from office depot, I purchased 6 cases of water for the branch. This saves the company money as the 8 0z bottles that we have to purchase cost the bank $7.99 per case and the ones I purchased were on sale for $1.99 each. Not to mention that each case from Office depot comes in a card board box which causes even more waste.

Tangela, I notice that I bring my own water as well. I don't see why the cost of water is so high. Not to mentioned, that $1.99 water taste better! Maybe because I saved money but still. LOL
