REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhy is equity for gender diverse individuals important for a just and sustainable society?
Kieran Wade 4/13/2022 6:57 AMWhen an individual feels like their situation isn't equitable, they struggle. When an individual struggles, society struggles. Your garden can't thrive if a large percentage of the flowers in it aren't blooming their best. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?
Kieran Wade 4/08/2022 12:49 PMI've vastly decreased the amount of plastic wrap that we use by investing in some beeswax cloth. Still working on that bad habit with grocery bags, however. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?
Kieran Wade 4/08/2022 12:48 PMPracticing mindfulness isn't new for me, but this Earth Month challenge has helped me get a routine going that I hope to keep up for the rest of the year! -
Kieran Wade 4/01/2022 6:26 AMAlright team!!! Cannot wait to see the progress we make this month :) This ecochallenge should help me focus on some goals I've had and hopefully accelerate some of them. Good luck, all! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?
Kieran Wade 4/01/2022 6:23 AMLove me those pollinators. I have a special soft spot for bees and for ladybugs. Plenty of bees visit my garden, not as many ladybugs (but seeing them more and more frequently as I add plants they might like). -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat ecological or xeriscape landscaping practices do you have? How has your landscape changed from these practices?
Kieran Wade 4/01/2022 6:22 AMLove mulching. I've also been spending a lot of time trying to improve the soil quality here... It's so very, VERY sandy. I've been adding organic matter and working on composting. Mixing in what I can to help the ground drain better and more evenly while also retaining enough moisture to keep the garden from needing to be watered as often. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat is easy for you to do when having a constructive conversation and what is challenging? What tips do you have for having a constructive conversation?
Kieran Wade 4/01/2022 6:19 AMIt's easy for me to see and understand different perspectives, and hard for me to keep my answers brief LOL all about that detail. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWith 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?
Kieran Wade 4/01/2022 6:18 AMFirst, I need to consistently keep my showers brief :) I typically take 7ish minute showers, so it's not that hard, but I want to turn this into a habit. Then...I'm thinking of looking into and saving up for some graywater recycling for the house. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?
Kieran Wade 4/01/2022 6:16 AMI have recently invested in a rain barrel. I want to properly set up irrigation to my garden so that it's more automated, and plan to buy another barrel as soon as that is done!
