REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat was a linking factor across this group of SDGs?
Jennifer Voss 4/29/2022 12:34 PMEquality was a linking factor across these SDG's, referring specifically to increased inequalities caused by the pandemic. It is essential to promote equality for the global population, people of all ages, women and children. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodWhat was a linking factor across this group of SDGs?
Jennifer Voss 4/29/2022 10:46 AMThe pandemic was a linking factor across this group of SDG's, detailing it's impact on education, employment, living conditions and access to internet/data. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat was something important you learned about renter rights and affordable housing?
Jennifer Voss 4/28/2022 10:46 AMI found a valuable resource that details all of the renters rights, and have always known the value of documenting everything in writing.
As far as affordable housing, I learned that there are more homes than people, but lower income buyers are pushed out of available homes. Developers build more high price units, and wages have not kept pace with the cost of housing. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat was a linking factor across this group of SDGs?
Jennifer Voss 4/28/2022 8:27 AMSustainability was the linking factor, across industrialization, consumption and access to modern energy. Across the world, enhancements can be made to make our lifestyles more sustainable. -
Jennifer Voss 4/28/2022 8:22 AMI've definitely been learning during this month's challenge. I've discovered new things about the ecosystems near me, and ways I can improve my habits to make a better impact. I know I can't make all the change myself, but hold myself accountable for the changes I can do. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat watershed do you live in presently? What is something interesting or unique about your watershed?
Jennifer Voss 4/27/2022 12:37 PMWe are in the Buffalo Bayou watershed, and it is currently impaired for swimming and boating due to bacteria and microbes present that can cause health concerns. One cause of this is improper disposal of waste, and runoff of contaminants. There are also signs of low oxygen which can impact the aquatic life. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat is one way you will reduce your carbon foorprint? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your carbon footprint?
Jennifer Voss 4/25/2022 8:48 AMI would love to switch to a greener energy source, but is unavailable where I currently rent. I do several other things to reduce my carbon footprint, such as replacing some meals with vegetarian options, and consolidating errands to reduce extra driving trips. I limit unnecessary waste in other ways to offset the amount of packaging that is sometimes unavoidable in our food options.-

Jennifer Voss 4/25/2022 8:38 AMIt is important to take car of pollinators because much of their natural existing resources have been removed for human development. Pollinators provide a valuable service to maintaining the diversity of our plants, flowers and our food supply depends on that! Even providing a safe resting place or water supply for them can be helpful. -
