REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodAfter learning more about investing, how can you increase positive impacts and decrease negative impacts?
Nikki Thompson 4/27/2022 6:41 AMBig thanks to Sarah Braden for hosting the green investing Earth Week event. Some ideas were: research where your money is going and divest from fossil fuels / other destructive investments. Slalom offers 1 portfolio that considers social/climate impacts that I'll be switching to. (The Green Team is also considering pushing Slalom for more options). Another method: support non-profits/coalitions that demand change & responsibility from climate-destructive companies by becoming company shareholders. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodWhat is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?
Nikki Thompson 4/27/2022 6:37 AMI volunteered with my local land conservancy to remove invasive species and plants trees! I love being outside and working with my hands, so this is a great way I can consistently volunteer (and enjoy doing it) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat are some of the barriers that exist to women and girl's equitable participation or representation in your community? Do you experience these barriers?
Nikki Thompson 4/05/2022 1:47 PMListened to this awesome How to Save a Planet podcast episode! https://open.spotify.com/episode/0SitVarPZ0yBoVc0RxV8aP -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?
Nikki Thompson 4/01/2022 8:51 AMThe "dirty dozen" includes most of the foods I love(!), and the list is alot longer than 12 (you can click "expand"). Most of those food have a high-water content, so it makes intuitive sense that they have high pesticide content. I'm going to be more careful about buying organic fruit, and/or start looking at organic frozen fruit.
