REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodHow does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Allyssa St Croix 4/07/2022 2:56 PMI tend to get caught up in my work days and in that go go go mentality which drains me and leaves little motivation to do something for myself after the work day is over. I need to remember that taking care of myself will only make me more successful in my role at work. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?
Allyssa St Croix 4/06/2022 9:10 AMI was surprised that the color scheme of each list seemed to be green - clean and red - dirty dozen list. I have been looking to add more vegetables to my diet but was afraid of the frozen food section; the article linked encouraged me to try some of the options there. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat was it like to mend your clothing? If you are skilled at mending, what tips do you have for others?
Allyssa St Croix 4/05/2022 3:49 PMI love mending clothing. Growing up my grandmother was a seamstress so she was always tackling clothing repairs. She would also make our Halloween costumes from clothing left behind at the dry cleaners our family ran. I have been able to fix buttons since I was a wee child; I have some basic stitching down.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhy is it important to honor native and indigenous peoples and cultures? What have you learned that is important to you? If you identify with or are a member of an indigenous group, how does your community practice sustainability?
Allyssa St Croix 4/04/2022 11:11 AMIt is important to honor native and indigenous peoples and cultures because we are on their sacred lands that were taken away from them by force during the settling of our country. They know the most about the lands that they have been on for centuries. It is especially important for us at Wyld in NV to acknowledge, learn about, and respect the land we work on as we work on a tribal reservation. We work to keep the lands clean by doing trash pick ups around the facility and other locations. We work hard to be conscious of land, power, and water usage. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat is one way you will reduce your carbon foorprint? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your carbon footprint?
Allyssa St Croix 4/04/2022 11:06 AMOne way that I will reduce my carbon footprint will be to unplug any unused electronics throughout my home. This is a small step but will help with electricity use. I will also be sure to not sit in my car with the motor running which just wastes gas and puts emissions into the environment for no reason. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat was the tastiest meatless or vegan meal you ever had or had recently? Did you make it? Can you share a recipe?
Allyssa St Croix 4/01/2022 10:50 AMMy favorite pizza from Pizza Rock is meatless. It is the Sweet Grandma and it has sweet tomato sauce, fresh basil, and cold mozzerella cheese on top. I didn't make it.-
