Health & Equity
Spend Time Outside
SDG #3 Health & Well-Being
I will replace 20 minute(s) per day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside exercising, enjoying the sunrise/sunset, gardening, journaling, or practicing gratitude for nature.
Education & Livelihood
Work-Life Balance
SDG #8 Work & Economy
During the workday, I will schedule time for daily rest during work days to practice work-life balance.
Basic Needs & Security
Know Your Produce
SDG #2 Zero Hunger
I will visit ewg.org to learn about and use their Clean 15 and Dirty Dozen produce lists.
Climate & Ecosystems
Reduce paper towel usage
To throw less paper towel in the trash, overall use less. Rely more on reusable/washable towels, cloths, sponges.
Climate & Ecosystems
Ecological & Xeriscape Gardening
SDG #14 & 15
I will do one or more of the following actions in my yard, or volunteer in my community: plant indigenous plants, landscape with water-efficient plants, add mulching, replace a lawn, and/or use eco-friendly fertilizers.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Equity Spend Time OutsideWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Jamie Smith 4/01/2022 1:07 PMPotential for lack of creativity, less desire to actually go outside - when you don't feel the benefits you don't know the benefits and strive to achieve them. Likely less energy, possibly weight gain, reduction in eye-sight, dependencies on digital affirmations and depression from observing the best of others without the context of the full picture. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & Livelihood Work-Life BalanceHow does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Jamie Smith 4/01/2022 1:03 PMIt allows for a refresh, a break, a clearer mind and usually a jolt of energy. It prepares me for taking more sustainable actions, encouraging my family to do the same. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & Security Know Your ProduceWhat surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?
Jamie Smith 4/01/2022 12:22 PMWe eat a lot off of both lists in my house, but certainly more of the favorites come from the dirty dozen. Which is unfortunate, but given the consumption of the skin on most of those items, not surprising.
