Protection was a linking factor.  Protection of our land, our water and the air we breathe.

What is one invasive species in your region and how does it impact your region's ecosystem?

The stink bug.  It is noisy, smelly and populates quickly and has invaded our home.  They have no predators so they are a nuisance to people and to the agricultural industry of our area.

Did not know they have no predators - here I've been hopeful birds or some kind of critter might devour them.  Whether big or small they really do stink and "bug" the heck out of me as weather warms.  Hate taking laundry down and having to flick them off - or worse, find them in a pocket  later!

What surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?

It surprised me to see that bananas and berries were not in the clean 15  as I eat so many of them but I was happy to see that they were  not included in the dirty dozen.

What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

    Nicole Shahida's avatar
    Nicole Shahida 4/03/2022 6:31 AM
Disconnection/detachment from others thus not developing important social skills and empathy.  Disconnection from nature thus not valuing what it has to offer and not benefitting from its immense health and wellness capabilities.

I am making a coconut curry lentil stew/soup for dinner today.  It is a bit spicy but incredibly tasty!  Super easy to make.

With 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?

    Nicole Shahida's avatar
    Nicole Shahida 4/02/2022 8:07 AM
When I am hand washing dishes, I soap them up first, without the water running and then rinse them all at once.

Do you have any tips for others on finding locations that accept products for safe disposal?

Local pharmacies offer drug disposal so  just google the pharmacy that you use and see  if they will take unused or expired meds.  I also learned that you can dispose of meds in your regular trash as long as you place them in a sealed bag along with old coffee grounds, for example.
