What are some of the barriers that exist to women and girl's equitable participation or representation in your community? Do you experience these barriers?

As women's role in society is changing there are still a lot of stigma of women being able to fulfill their duties other than being mothers and caretakers. Some of the articles I read I was able to identify myself with. Being able to speak up due to what my male counterparts wouldn't understand since we don't experience the same gender issues. As society tries to make the world a gender-stigma free zone there is always the fear that the male-counterparts would suit better for the workplace since they do not have to experience what women do. Whether it'll childbirth, menstruation, child-care or etc. Society seems to forget that women tend to usually having to deal with all the above scenarios. Yes, there is still many barriers that exist in our community when it comes to gender participation or representation.
