REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Equity Communicate ConstructivelyWhat is easy for you to do when having a constructive conversation and what is challenging? What tips do you have for having a constructive conversation?
Alex Pieschel 4/18/2022 7:32 AMOften during a debate, instead of saying "you're wrong" or "that can't be true", I ask people to back up their claims with viable evidence. It is important to get all angles of the argument before rendering judgment. (unless you're arguing with a Flat-Earth person, there is *no* hope for that.) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & Livelihood Engage In Active ListeningWhat was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation benefit from active listening?
Alex Pieschel 4/18/2022 7:24 AMI was conversing with my grandparents about a story in which, a 17-year-old girl was ejected from HER Prom night because a grown man was getting thirsty over her, and claimed: "she was arousing impure thoughts." This, for obvious reasons, was not fair and presented an opportunity to openly discuss feminism and sexual assault. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Equity Learn About Gender DiversityWhy is equity for gender diverse individuals important for a just and sustainable society?
Alex Pieschel 4/18/2022 7:17 AMI already knew about the Gender Spectrum. But it is an incredible pleasure to be aware and active with accepting people who are just trying to be the person they are meant to be. I still have a lot to learn, but I hope to continue to present myself as friendly and supportive. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Equity Track My PurchasesHow have you reduced your purchasing habits and what would you like to do next to reduce your consumption habits?
Alex Pieschel 4/13/2022 10:19 AMSUBWAY:
I only go once in a while, and I savor it enough to eat my sandwich and anything else I buy without any of it going to waste. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Learn About Invasive SpeciesWhat is one invasive species in your region and how does it impact your region's ecosystem?
Alex Pieschel 4/13/2022 10:02 AMThe Purple Loosestrife takes over wetlands and blocks other plants' access to sunlight and water because it grows so incredibly thick. The only way to permanently get rid of them is by uprooting them and burning the seeds.-
Jenny Loehr 4/13/2022 11:43 AMGreat response.

Alex Pieschel 4/11/2022 7:22 AMI met with the Governor of Wisconsin, Tony Evers over the weekend. He answered my questions regarding what the state government is currently doing, and plans on doing to slow climate change here. He regarded everyone there, including myself, and praised me for my activism. He wished to see my Climate Change report once it has been graded and handed back. It was one of the most progressive moments in my life, and I hope to work with him again in the future and continue to advocate for Climate Activism. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Reduce Single-Use PlasticsWhat plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?
Alex Pieschel 4/07/2022 10:07 AMI will do my best to eliminate plastics from my life and begin to reuse what I can. Instead of Tupperware, I will store my herbs and spices inside glass jars. I will also buy products as biodegradables if I can.-
Jenny Loehr 4/07/2022 12:02 PMTupperware is a good option too. That is not a single use plastic as it can be washed and reused many times.
