REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & Security VolunteerWhat was one of your most memorable volunteer experiences, and why? What would you like to volunteer for next, and why?
Robin Pendleton 4/30/2022 11:16 AMVolunteering at a food pantry was an humbling and fulfilling experience. In today's economy, volunteers often have been beneficiaries of the charitable donations others make to ensure there is not only enough food, but quality and nutritious food for all ages. Drive-through food distribution sites have become more prevalent, efficient and health conscious since the onset of the COVID era. I would like to volunteer at a senior citizen assisted living facility next. My preference would be one that doesn't have golf courses or 5-star menus. I have an affinity for people old enough to be my parents or grandparents. Too many have been discarded by their own families and need someone other than staff to show they care. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & Security Support A Renters Bills of RightsWhat was something important you learned about renter rights and affordable housing?
Robin Pendleton 4/30/2022 11:05 AMUnfortunately, a lot of the "renter rights" that appear to be concrete and indisputable are often ignored by landlords and law enforcement tends to be on the side of landlords. Renters should definitely require and thoroughly read written leases which stipulate tangible and agreed upon conditions of possession a property for a specified period of time. Affordable housing is a very subjective term and is often politicized and polarized. -
Robin Pendleton 4/29/2022 12:41 PMMy challenge is going well. Whenever I hear something that involves sustainability, my attention is drawn to it. While I can't play a tree for today's observance of Arbor Day, I will be participating in tomorrow's Medication Take Back Day. Those dates would probably be blips in the periphery if I wasn't in tune with this challenge. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Support Local PollinatorsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?
Robin Pendleton 4/28/2022 7:00 PMThe loss of honey bees is more catastrophic than loss of a honey supply. We need to take care of the pollinators to attract bees, butterflies, birds and others to preserve this ecosystem. We also have to guard against insecticides that are transferred and kill pollinators. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Join A Climate Action OrginizationWhat area of climate action are you most passionate about and why?
Robin Pendleton 4/28/2022 6:57 PMI’m most passionate about protecting our waters and planting trees. We can only co-exist in an environment where wildlife, aquatic life and land base creatures have the pure water they need. New developments need to consider ways to not only preserve trees, but to plant more. -
Robin Pendleton 4/27/2022 3:13 PMWorking as a team, sharing tips and initiatives, while cheering one another on to do more is one of my favorite things about participating in this challenge. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & Livelihood Volunteer to TutorWhat do you enjoy about supporting others who are learning?
Robin Pendleton 4/26/2022 6:56 PMIt’s a mutually rewarding to help others gain more knowledge and experience while learning more about them, their backgrounds, and ambitions. It’s like planting a seed, watering it, and reaping the benefits when it grows to fruition. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & Livelihood Volunteer In My CommunityWhat is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?
Robin Pendleton 4/26/2022 6:51 PMPost signs in areas utilizing printers reminding them to recycle ink and toner cartridges. Establish an account with business such as Office Depot that gives rewards points for recycling cartridges. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & Livelihood Research Impact InvestingAfter learning more about investing, how can you increase positive impacts and decrease negative impacts?
Robin Pendleton 4/25/2022 6:03 PMInitiate conversations with my financial advisors about what they are corporately doing and what I can do to get more invested in green, sustainable stock & bond portfolios built for solving climate change. -
Robin Pendleton 4/24/2022 5:50 PMLooking forward to eating vegetables from my friend's garden. A large plot isn't required. Stars of home makeover shows create vertical gardens. If you can imagine it, you can grow it.
