REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat is one way you will reduce your carbon foorprint? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your carbon footprint?
Michael Oatley 4/20/2022 5:23 PMI already drive an electric vehicle and use battery operated or electric tools. I purchased an older home rather than building new but need to update the heating system to a more environmentally friendly option. I stopped using a battery toothbrush and use a plant based manual. I use steel drinking cup instead of plastic. My sport hobby of disc golf I use vibram rubber discs rather than plastic. For health reasons I am unable to thrive on vegetarian diet so continue consuming meat. I don't believe meat is necessarily as harmful as some would have you believe. Sustainable farming is the key. Diversity of food sources in a sustainable way. There are plenty of crop based farming practices that are harmful to the planet. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesHow might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the clean energy shift?
Michael Oatley 4/16/2022 7:41 PMFit it into general conversations. If it is important and brings you joy, it will become part of your lifestyle and part of letting people get to know you. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?
Michael Oatley 4/16/2022 7:24 PMI've read these lists in the past. Wanted to check in for a refresher. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?
Michael Oatley 4/13/2022 4:08 PMPollinators are threatened by over development and pesticides. We need people to change their notion of what the perfect back yard is. An artificial perfect patch of green grass all the same height is a very limited view of the beauty of nature. I don't have a favorite pollinator. I enjoy them all. Pollinators are needed for the circle of life.-
Angela Bohl 4/14/2022 9:20 AMI agree about the perfect backyard! My idea of a beautiful yard is one that's full of blossoms, with air that's buzzing with the wings of butterflies, bees, hummingbirds, etc. What could be more beautiful?
