REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat is one invasive species in your region and how does it impact your region's ecosystem?
Kim Nelson (SWMC) 4/28/2022 9:14 AMWe didn't know that blackberries are such an invasive (though tasty) species until we moved here! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?
Kim Nelson (SWMC) 4/28/2022 9:13 AM-
Marci Rau 4/29/2022 2:18 PMHow in the world did you keep it alive over the winter?! Hummingbirds are also a favorite of mine.

REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat was it like to create a readiness plan? Did you find other resources you could share?
Kim Nelson (SWMC) 4/26/2022 2:22 PMTalking through a plan and starting to put supplies, etc. together is actually pretty comforting! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat was it like to mend your clothing? If you are skilled at mending, what tips do you have for others?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhere does the energy in your region come from? Which energy is a renewable source?
Kim Nelson (SWMC) 4/18/2022 6:55 PMInteresting that most of our energy comes from hydro...though many would say that it's greenwash given that rivers have to be dammed and it ruins ecosystems along the route. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Kim Nelson (SWMC) 4/08/2022 3:59 PMCovid silver lining: I have bad allergies and no one bats an eye now as I walk around outside with a mask on. :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWould you consider using an induction cooking surface? If you have used one before, what do you like about induction cooking?
Kim Nelson (SWMC) 4/07/2022 2:10 PMWe're considering not only getting rid of our gas and moving to induction, but also in using an electric countertop oven that's not only greener (no gas), but also way more efficient than our gas stove. They're smaller and smarter than our gas stove, basically. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesHow might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the clean energy shift?
Kim Nelson (SWMC) 4/07/2022 2:08 PMFor the price of a cup of coffee/month, we can "offset" our energy through Clark PUD's Green Lights program that supports green energy education programs. :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWith 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?
Kim Nelson (SWMC) 4/02/2022 2:39 PMBrian and I compete to take the fastest shower - he's got me beat...but he used to have to take 1-minute showers when he had to in the Army during training!
