After learning about pollinators during the Ecochallenge, I planted a small urban garden on my deck and made sure to get flowers that attract pollinators like butterflies and bees.

As part of the Ecochallenge, I committed to volunteering in my local community. I volunteer every week with Everybody Wins DC -- a youth literacy nonprofit. I am a reading tutor for a second grade student, and it's amazing to watch her develop a love for reading and confidence in reading more challenging books! For Earth month, we'll be reading some books about the planet!

What plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?

I've curbed my use of plastic wrap by swapping it with beeswax wrap. I also bought a set of travel bamboo cutlery that I keep in my purse at all times so that I can avoid single-use plastic utensils when I'm out!
