What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

With the nicer weather, I found myself outside more often this week than usual. It was very refreshing to just enjoy the world and be in all of the sunshine and nature :) It definitely improves my mental health being able to spend time outside away from screens :)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

With 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?

I hope to conserve water by turning off the faucet more often while I am brushing my teeth, and only using water was necessary (cooking, utilizing the bathroom, etc.), limiting my use for more unnecessary activities.

What was the tastiest meatless or vegan meal you ever had or had recently? Did you make it? Can you share a recipe?

I have been a vegetarian for most of my life, and recently, I found Beyond Burgers. They taste, from what I have heard, like real meat-products, and they are super nutritious as well! I also found out that giant grilled mushrooms are the perfect dinner plate :)

What was one of your most memorable volunteer experiences, and why? What would you like to volunteer for next, and why?

One of the most memorable volunteer experiences that I had was helping cook food for the Ronald McDonald House. It was really nice to give to families staying at RMH and cook them a meal (and dessert :) ) and put smiles on their faces and food in their stomachs. Being able to help others, especially if they are going through hard times, is something that we should all participate in.

What is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?

One way that I help my community become more sustainable is by participating in my campus's clean sweep events. During these events, I walk around different parts of campus and pick up litter and recyclables. It is very rewarding to give back to the campus and community by cleaning it up and ensuring that it stays healthy, pretty, and sustainable.

Why is equity for gender diverse individuals important for a just and sustainable society?

Being able to respect each other while helping save the planet goes hand-in-hand. Creating and sustaining a more eco-friendly, healthy planet, comes from creating healthy relationships as well. It's just as important to have society be socially healthy and supportive, as it is to have a healthy and supportive planet!
