TAKISHA MCCLAIN 4/25/2022 5:11 AMThis weekend was amazing to be outside for hours at a time. It was perfect to look at the earth in a different manner. The trees, soil, rocks, different type of landscaping in each of the neighborhoods. I wouldn’t trade this knowledge for anything.-

TAKISHA MCCLAIN 4/21/2022 5:46 AMThe last two days was challenging for me to complete my challenges. I was able to start the morning off right today to get them done! I know I want to make changes and it must start with me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?
TAKISHA MCCLAIN 4/16/2022 8:47 AMI was surprised that some seeds are genetically modified. I have been doing frozen fruits and vegetables because it’s hard to eat fresh prior to going bad. I’m glad frozen fruit and vegetables retain the vitamins and freshness. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat was one of your most memorable volunteer experiences, and why? What would you like to volunteer for next, and why?
TAKISHA MCCLAIN 4/15/2022 6:35 AMMy most memorable and enjoyable volunteer experiences is when my Team and I assist a local church in created brown lunch bags with decorations. We was able to make quotes, draw, and come together for KidsMeals to supply lunch bags that have positive quotes or drawing. Absolutely enjoyed myself!-

REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat watershed do you live in presently? What is something interesting or unique about your watershed?
TAKISHA MCCLAIN 4/14/2022 6:11 AMSomething interesting or unique about watershed to me is that a watershed is an entire river system. All the little waters that flows due to gravity have a place to go and I never knew the name. There is even a Texas website that shows all the ones on the areas. Amazing -
TAKISHA MCCLAIN 4/11/2022 12:11 PM2nd week of the challenge and compared to the past years, it is easier to do the challenges. If you make this apart of your lifestyle, the month challenge is easier to manage! Let's all keep it going after April 2022!-
Kristin Bloser 4/11/2022 7:45 PMThat's a great point Takisha. The Ecochallenge is held for the month because it typically takes at least 2-3 weeks to change a habit. Keep it going! -

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat is easy for you to do when having a constructive conversation and what is challenging? What tips do you have for having a constructive conversation?
TAKISHA MCCLAIN 4/10/2022 5:59 AMI find while having a constructive conversation, I ensure that I allow the other person to speak fully without interruption. Once they have finished speaking, I ensure the response I give is thoroughly thought out in my head prior to speaking. I don’t want to seem rude out angry while dialing so I ensure my tone is not strong. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodWhat is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?
TAKISHA MCCLAIN 4/09/2022 6:59 AMOne thing I can do to help my community to become more sustainable by starting a Neighborhood compost bin. This will allow the kids they actually see things grow and how fun it is. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat was it like to mend your clothing? If you are skilled at mending, what tips do you have for others?
TAKISHA MCCLAIN 4/08/2022 8:22 AMI am not skilled at mending clothing. However, I was able to watch a YouTube video that showed how to mend your clothes. It was very interesting because, this was what my mom use to do with my clothing growing up. I was very rough on clothing while playing. So to get the longest wear, she would mend my clothing. I used those tactics to mend some shorts that came with holes. However, the holes started to expand further than I wanted. I used the darning technique and it was very easy to follow. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodWhat was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation benefit from active listening?
TAKISHA MCCLAIN 4/08/2022 8:17 AMBy actively listening to someone, I was able to ensure I built trust during the conversation. It showed I was able to identify and build on the knowledge that was shared. The benefits for both showed that I was listening and did not miss important information. They felt that my leadership in my role supported the direction they needed as a customer. I assist them in their planning by putting a strategy in placed based on what I heard. I felt empowered.
