What are the climate and disaster risks in your region?

Mostly flooding and hurricane. . .

The best part of working at WSP is that we are on the front line of resiliency efforts.  We know what's being planned and can have influence on how our communities are supported with corrective actions.

This is crazy, "a “healthy” diet cost $550 more per person per year than an “unhealthy” one."

I'm actually surprised it is only $550 more per person.  With today's food prices I think it is more like $550 per month!

I lost on round 3. . . . When it got to spending more points to make real action I got scared.  It goes to show, you need to really push to make it to the end.

What was a linking factor across this group of SDGs?

    Manda Magee's avatar
    Manda Magee 4/21/2022 6:17 AM
The linking factor is making everything available to developing countries.

That is exactly what the Bridges to Prosperity is about, I'm so glad that WSP supports this venture.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Climate & Ecosystems Support Local Pollinators
Why is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?

    Manda Magee's avatar
    Manda Magee 4/19/2022 8:31 AM
I just love fields of pollinator plants.  The good news is that NYC parks have gotten the hint.  They have a cluster of pollinators next to the pond they have every year.  My girls love to run by the butterflies.

What most interested or surprised you about your energy audit?

I tried out this website.  Only thing is it didn't have options for LEDs as lights.  Their estimate of the bill was spot on.  And it showed me my savings over an average home based on the effort I've made thus far.

Equality was the main thing I took away as the linking factor.  There were many statistics on how divided the world is with regards to resources and access to the same goods and services for all society.

I also loved that they included statistics on the Pandemic in the linked pages.  And the additional publications were a plus.

Wow, Feral Cats are on their top 7 list. . . . Poor kitties, that's probably why the keep trying to fix cats.

The Starling story was pretty amazing, I see these all over in NYC.  They are the most prominent bird.

" Eugene Schieffelin was such a fan of William Shakespeare that he decided to introduce a bird mentioned in his play Henry IV into the U.S. In 1890 and 1891, Schieffelin unleashed approximately 100 imported Europeans starlings into New York City’s Central Park. "
