CHARISY MATHIS 4/22/2022 1:26 PMHi Lauren :) I like the fact you take shorter showers. I take about 10mins to shower and I think that can be reduced even more to save more water. I like how you reduce sprinklers because its constant running water. What would be a solution to that?

Lauren Macias 4/25/2022 10:34 PMThis week I really reduced single use plastics. I find this to be really important because I am aware that I really needed to regulate this. I am glad that I am keeping track of this because not only does this have an impact on my lifestyle, but this can be influential to the people around me as well as I publicize my findings.-
iman hibbler 4/27/2022 12:25 PMLauren, I as well always try to be mindful of the amount of plastic I use and always try to avoid it at all costs! It is hard to do but I have found it very rewarding and I feel so much better taking my own cups, bags, straws, etc!

REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?
Lauren Macias 4/21/2022 1:57 PMI take shorter showers. One practice that I already take into action is reducing water resources such as outdoor sprinklers and excess water running. Reducing sprinklers makes sure that there isn't just water running excessively. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityHow have you reduced your purchasing habits and what would you like to do next to reduce your consumption habits?
Lauren Macias 4/21/2022 1:55 PMOverconsumption is definitely a common problem. This is especially evident among my family members or my mom who does grocery shopping. However, when we take the time to think more constructively, we realize we don't need as much as we think. Next, I want to have a shopping list so I can really plan and not just shop around. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?
Lauren Macias 4/21/2022 1:53 PMI usually eat a lot of single use- chip bags. I reduced my consumption and substituted this with more home cooked meals and less packaged foods. I guess I was used to this since it seems more convenient however now I know that this needs to be limited. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWith 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?
Lauren Macias 4/21/2022 1:50 PMWith this challenge, I found that this was actually kind of difficult for me. I guess this comes to show you we really shouldn't take water for granted. Next, I plan to share this information with my family members. It is important to let other people know so that we can achieve sustainability. I also plan to not run the water unnecessarily. -
Lauren Macias 4/15/2022 9:50 PMIt's going great! I have been learning so much and I am happy to see how much engagement this requires. This gives me hope in terms of achieving sustainability. I like how the challenges are challenging but they are also realistic so everyone can take action. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat is easy for you to do when having a constructive conversation and what is challenging? What tips do you have for having a constructive conversation?
Lauren Macias 4/10/2022 12:53 PMWhat I found to be easy for this challenge was the overall aspect of engagement since you can apply the audience to a lot of environmental actions. What I mean by this is that there are so many contributions we can all make. Everyone can take action, so discussing this was easy. The challenging part of this was elaborating on this topic and explaining why little changes are important to each of us. Some tips is to have some background knowledge and familiarity of the person's perspective and education on environmental sustainability. It is good to know how much they already know, or how much they care, this way you know what type of persuasion you need to use or how much information you need to present.
