REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & Communities Choose Clean/Renewable EnergyHow might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the clean energy shift?
Ann Lloyd 4/30/2022 6:48 PMOthers have taught me by setting an example for me and I hope to do the same. -
Ann Lloyd 4/30/2022 6:42 PMI chose actions where I thought I could learn the most and do things I may not have otherwise sought out. What a great experience! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & Communities Find out where your energy comes fromWhere does the energy in your region come from? Which energy is a renewable source?
Ann Lloyd 4/30/2022 10:14 AMVery interesting to compare the regions of the US. Our rating for here in MN isn't great. We do have hydro, nuc, wind, gas, but too much reliance on coal. I entered my kWh usage for the past year and was happy to see I'm at half the average. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Join A Climate Action OrginizationWhat area of climate action are you most passionate about and why?
Ann Lloyd 4/29/2022 6:31 AMMany, many years ago, when my primary job was working in accounting for Waste Management, I interviewed for a secondary role for Clean Water Action. I remember the interviewer asking me, "What is it like to work for the largest polluter in North America?" and I remember thinking to myself, "What is it like to be so misguided in your understanding of an issue? Do you honestly think Waste Management is generating all that trash? No, it is you and me, so you need to wise up and understand the issues you're fighting for." Ever since then, I have pledged to understand what the climate organizations I donate to do and stand for. -
Ann Lloyd 4/29/2022 5:29 AMLoved the story on WCCO about the new product to replace plastic bubble wrap https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/video/6232009-3m-develops-new-paper-based-bubble-wrap/ -

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Equity Learn About Participation and RepresentationWhat are some of the barriers that exist to women and girl's equitable participation or representation in your community? Do you experience these barriers?
Ann Lloyd 4/26/2022 7:56 AMThe barriers in my community are much more subtle and subliminal than those in all of the linked articles I read. The idea that riding a bicycle is seen as sexual in some way is sad but thankfully unrelatable to my experience. But girls are still less likely to raise their hands with the answer. Emerson, by its own admission, needs more women on the board and in executive offices. -
