Violet syrup making must be contagious.  At the library parking lot event last night, I spoke to one of the librarians with whom I had shared my violet syrup experience.  She and her daughter tried it and were very excited.  It was fun for the two of them and her young daughter loves purple so they didn't add the lemon.  They may try lemon on a portion, just to see the chemical change.
One never knows the impact one has just by sharing experiences.

What a lovely surprise to find two construction paper handprint thank you notes in the mailbox.  One pink the other blue.  They were from two small children from the neighborhood who were walking down the sidewalk in front of our house.  They happened upon two handmade fabric rabbits I had placed on our front step.  I said they should give them a new home.  Well the thank you notes said they have given them names and we're enjoying their new friends.  Very heartwarming.

We will be loading the car with boxes of items for Green Bexley's clean up day.  Such a good feeling to rid ourselves of unneeded things and have them go to others who will use them.

Good report from our gas company.  We used 4 less CCF of natural gas than efficient similar homes.
    Some pointers...
    Close curtains at night.
Use self-cleaning oven feature right after cooking a meal.

Who is affected by water insecurity in your region? How are they affected? How are you impacted by water insecurity?

    Constance Lewis's avatar

All residents are affected in our region.  Ohio water, though plenty, is under near-constant assault from algee, fertilizer, herbicides, industrial chemicals, medicines, pesticides and human and animal waste.  Cities spend millions of dollars removing those threats-costs that ultimately end up tacked onto resident's water bills across the state.

At my work today, there were several framed pieces of artwork in the back hall that was to be disposed of.  I mentioned that our city is having an event this Saturday to recycle and give useful items a new home and offered to take them.  They were very happy to have them disappear.
On the way home, however, I stopped by our new senior center to see if they could use them.  They were pleased to take them.  If they will not be used in the center, next month they will be having a sale/fundraiser.
Great to see more it's rescued from the landfill!

What was one of your most memorable volunteer experiences, and why? What would you like to volunteer for next, and why?

It was a very rewarding experience setting up "Joy Junction", a Sunday School program for  ages 3, 4 and 5 year olds.  Creating the lessons and  enlisting volunteer teachers was a challenge, but watching the children respond to music, enjoying snacks and learning while having fun was stimulating.
I'm not certain what I would like to volunteer for next.  There are so many opportunities and I have many interests.  We will have to see what the future holds.
