Afer playing the Net Zero game under the Climate and Ecosystems section I  learned that there are many factors that can contribute to attaining net zero.  But there are also many actions that can be done that can work negatively in reducing impact.

Listening to Julie Sinistore's discussion on Resource, Social and Environmental Impacts of Food Choices opened my eyes to how modifications on dietary choices and consumption can change the impact to support a more sustainable environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health & Equity

Addressing the issue of food insecurity and the need to provide access for those who do not have access links to a sustainable future in that steps can be taken to help many societies and populations become more educated in growing and developing their own food resources.  In addition these development of more farms also feed the environment to be more environmentally friendly.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Basic Needs & Security
What benefits does the sharing economy offer to you and others? If you are a little shy to try, what could be a first step for you?

During a recent cleaning of our home we realized there were many useful items that could be shared of donated to others so that they can continue using it and not have to buy new items.  Many of these items included wooden furniture, a piano, books, refrigerator, etc...  In return I have build a network of others that will come to me to see if I need items they may not be using any longer.  This is only a start but it is a first step towards building a sharing economy in my community.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
What plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?

    Allen Lee's avatar

plastic bags and take-out containers are being replaced by glass reusable containers.  For some take-out containers we are reusing them to prevent waste.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Education & Livelihood
What was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation benefit from active listening?

    Allen Lee's avatar
    Allen Lee 4/12/2022 10:24 AM
The conversation seemed to be more engaging and a better exchange was taking place. It provided an opportunity to really listen to what the other person is talking about versus trying to figure out the next statement to say and missing part of the conversation.  .
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
By taking actions in your daily life, which SDG do you think you can have the biggest impact on?

    Allen Lee's avatar
    Allen Lee 4/12/2022 10:21 AM
My passion is in helping the community through food banks and supporting local food pantries.  Food insecurity is a large problem in the US and with help and support we can work in resolving this problem a little bit at a time.  I run food drives and collections several times a year and volunteer at a food pantry twice a month to support this passion.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

For a constructive conversation always be clear at to questions and requests and always clarify with recipients if they understand what is being discussed or asked.  Sometimes confirming this can clear up confusion.
