Barbara Kropp 4/28/2022 10:38 AMIt is hard to believe this challenge is coming to an end. It has been so enlightening for me. I hope everyone else has enjoyed also. I have enjoyed learning from everyone. -
Barbara Kropp 4/22/2022 11:56 AMWhat beautiful weather for Earth Day! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat watershed do you live in presently? What is something interesting or unique about your watershed?
Barbara Kropp 4/18/2022 12:22 PMI live in Vancouver and was surprised by what I learned. I am thankful for this nudge to read about my watershed and ways to protect it. I would encourage others to read about their watershed. It was very interesting. -
Barbara Kropp 4/14/2022 8:23 AMI am excited to see our standing in total points for this world-wide challenge! Just think of all we are learning and the impact we are making. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?
Barbara Kropp 4/11/2022 2:38 PMI will take shorter showers to reduce water usage. I don't think I will get down to five minute showers, but I will be conscience of how long I am in the shower. I purchased a super-high efficiency dishwasher to save water. And it is super quiet. -
Barbara Kropp 4/07/2022 11:23 AMI have to thank Brian again for introducing this challenge to PeaceHealth. I have a new outlook on sustainability. It's great to see the ways everyone is making a difference and learn so many things. Such great ideas! Thank you to Brian and thank you everyone for sharing your ideas!!-

REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhere does the energy in your region come from? Which energy is a renewable source?
Barbara Kropp 4/06/2022 2:30 PMI was inspired by Brian to check into where PUD energy comes from. Very interesting! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?
Barbara Kropp 4/05/2022 9:54 AMI cut down on usage of plastic produce bags at the grocery store. And I reuse the ones that I have gotten.-
Sarah Aiello 4/05/2022 4:10 PM -
Brian Nelson (SSC) 4/05/2022 1:01 PMKeep in mind, Sally, that biodegradable is only the better choice (over reusable) if they are properly composted. :) -
Sally Wright (SSC) 4/05/2022 12:52 PMI wish grocery stores would hurry up and get biodegradable produce bags. I have reusible/washable produce and bulk bags but if I run out, I definitely reuse the ones I end up having to use from the store.

REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityHow did you incorporate using an entire vegetable (skins, peels, tops, and stalks) during one of your meal preps? What's something new you're going to try that is a zero-waste meal practice?
Barbara Kropp 4/04/2022 3:09 PMPreparing a zero-waste meal is more involved than I expected, but very it feels very good to make a difference.-
Brian Nelson (SSC) 4/05/2022 8:33 AMI used to throw away the stalks of things like broccoli, but then realized that a quick peel of the hard outer skin leaves the tastiest part of the plant! :)
