REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?
Seth Krause 4/25/2022 11:02 AMI was surprised to see spinach and kale on the dirty dozen list. When shopping, I will be sure to purchase organic options from the produce listed on the dirty dozen list, namely kale, spinach and strawberries.
I have used these lists in the past, but it is important to remain up to date and understand the current trends in the produce industry. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhere does the energy in your region come from? Which energy is a renewable source?
Seth Krause 4/20/2022 5:39 PMMost of the energy in my region of New England comes from Natural Gas (53%). Hydropower (6.5%), Wind (3.9%), Biomass (7.3%) and Solar (2.1%) make up the renewable energy sources in my region of New England.-
Kevin Milligan 4/21/2022 7:32 AMhttps://www.epa.gov/egrid This website shows where your energy comes from and the amount of pollutants produced by power generation, broken down by regions in the U.S. I was disappointed to learn that Long Island is in the top five for emitters of CO2 equivalents with high CO2, methane, and N2O. Gas usage is 86% which is higher than anyone in the country. Hopefully wind farms being built in the Atlantic will offset this.
