  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
What ecological or xeriscape landscaping practices do you have? How has your landscape changed from these practices?

    Kaley Kozlowski 4/30/2022 8:43 PM
I recently took a permaculture class and water collection was a hot topic. I've been watching how the water flows in my yard and selected my garden bed locations this year based on natural depressions that will require less watering.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Economy & Communities
Where does the energy in your region come from? Which energy is a renewable source?

    Kaley Kozlowski's avatar
    Kaley Kozlowski 4/30/2022 8:42 PM
Central midwest region shows 60% !!! still coming from coal. I had no idea. Definitely motivation for solar and to look at other utility offerings in the area.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Basic Needs & Security
What was the tastiest meatless or vegan meal you ever had or had recently? Did you make it? Can you share a recipe?

    Kaley Kozlowski 4/30/2022 8:38 PM
I love making roasted veggie bowls. Recently roasted broccoli & cauliflower with quinoa, lemon tahini dressing, and sustainably harvested ramps!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health & Equity
Why is it important to honor native and indigenous peoples and cultures? What have you learned that is important to you? If you identify with or are a member of an indigenous group, how does your community practice sustainability?

Honoring the land and the communities that lived on this land before me, reviewing the map seeing many tribes who touched the area that I live now.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Education & Livelihood
After learning more about investing, how can you increase positive impacts and decrease negative impacts?

    Kaley Kozlowski's avatar
    Kaley Kozlowski 4/30/2022 4:27 PM
I love how impact investing creates opportunities for financial gain while supporting sustainable efforts. It doesn't have to be (and shouldn't be) solely driven by philanthropic funding.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
What plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?

    Kaley Kozlowski's avatar
    Kaley Kozlowski 4/30/2022 8:37 AM
Single use plastic food items are my most common. Plan to bring meals from home to avoid the single use plastics snack conveniences.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Basic Needs & Security
With 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?

    Kaley Kozlowski's avatar
    Kaley Kozlowski 4/30/2022 8:36 AM
Fuel production requires a great deal of water, so limited my miles driven will continue to lessen water use.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Basic Needs & Security
What benefits does the sharing economy offer to you and others? If you are a little shy to try, what could be a first step for you?

    Kaley Kozlowski's avatar
    Kaley Kozlowski 4/30/2022 8:34 AM
Connecting with your neighbor. I am blessed to live in a place where neighbors are very willing to share tools and share knowledge with one another. As a first time home owner I am grateful to have their guidance :)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Basic Needs & Security
What is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?

    Kaley Kozlowski's avatar
    Kaley Kozlowski 4/30/2022 8:32 AM
My water usage is ~ 1000 gallons per day. I will continue to keep showers short and work on reducing my miles driven each week!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health & Equity
