Calculate Your Water Footprint
SDG #6 Water & Sanitation
I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste.
Climate & Ecosystems
Explore My Area
SDG #14 & 15
Each day, I will spend 10 minutes exploring a new area around my neighborhood (e.g., park, water body, nearby trail, community garden, green space, etc.).
Climate & Ecosystems
Learn About The Climate & Ecosystems SDGs
SDG #13, 14 & 15
I will spend 30 minutes learning about these SDGs.
Climate & Ecosystems
Reduce Single-Use Plastics
SDG #14 & 15
Throughout the day, I will note the single-use plastics I use and consider the reusable options available to me.
Climate & Ecosystems
Learn About Invasive Species
SDG #14 & 15
I will spend 30 minutes learning about invasive species and ways to reduce their impacts.
Climate & Ecosystems
Support Local Pollinators
SDG #15 Life On Land
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will spend 20 minutes researching which plants support local pollinators and plant some in my area.
Economy & Communities
Find out where your energy comes from
SDG #7 Energy
I will spend 20 minutes learning about where my energy comes from.
Economy & Communities
Create A Readiness Plan
SDG #9 Industry & Infrastructure
I will develop a readiness plan for my household in the event of an emergency.
Economy & Communities
Online Energy Audit
SDG #7 Energy
I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy.
Economy & Communities
Induction Cooking
SDG #7 Energy
I will spend 20 minutes learning about induction cooking and consider if I could add this to my food prep methods.
Health & Equity
Communicate Constructively

REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Learn About Invasive SpeciesWhat is one invasive species in your region and how does it impact your region's ecosystem?
Rachael Knopf 4/26/2022 6:23 AMEuropean Earthworms! I had no idea that North America was almost absent of earth worms since the last Ice age. They were introduce in the last few centuries with European plants. This has caused a decline in native above ground insect species, potentially by reducing the food source for them and/or their larva. These native insects play important rolls in the ecosystem from pollination to food sources for other wildlife. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & Security Get To Know Your WatershedWhat watershed do you live in presently? What is something interesting or unique about your watershed?
Rachael Knopf 4/18/2022 6:18 AMI live in the Great Lakes Region Water shed. It is one of the most ecologically diverse watersheds. It is made up of forests, wetlands, grass lands and sand dunes and home to 4,000 species of plants and wildlife. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Support Local PollinatorsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?
Rachael Knopf 4/13/2022 5:56 AMPollinators are the base support of the eco system. They allow plants to reproduce, with provides us with food from crops, more plant to clean the air and stabilize our soil. I'm a fan of most pollinators, may favorites that I see in my yard are monarch butterflies, bubble bees, bats, and humming birds. I have a variety of pollinator friendly plants and a bee house already, but plan to add a humming bird bath and bee drinking station. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Reduce Single-Use PlasticsWhat plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?
Rachael Knopf 4/13/2022 5:31 AMI find that zip lock baggies are my biggest offender. I have been packing my lunch and storing items in the the fridge using reusable glass containers. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & Security Know Your ProduceWhat surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?
Rachael Knopf 4/08/2022 10:33 AMI was surprised by the collard greens, mustard greens, kale and spinach on the dirty dozen list. These are staples and my house. I have not used these lists before but I will definitely be more aware of what I am buying now.
