REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat is one invasive species in your region and how does it impact your region's ecosystem?
Rachael Kimble 4/30/2022 12:20 PMI learned that gypsy months have come to our region recently. They defoliate trees by the millions of acres and make them sick. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat was a linking factor across this group of SDGs?
Rachael Kimble 4/30/2022 12:15 PMWhat a huge impact that covid had on the poverty rates and families/individuals access to basic human needs! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat watershed do you live in presently? What is something interesting or unique about your watershed?
Rachael Kimble 4/30/2022 12:02 PMI was surprised to find out I'm in the Lake Washington Watershed even though I live so close to Snoqualmie. I learned that there are over 2400 sites that contribute to this watershed! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?
Rachael Kimble 4/29/2022 10:19 AMPollinators help sustain our ecosystems and create new life! I have always loved bumble bees, so fuzzy, round and cute! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhy is equity for gender diverse individuals important for a just and sustainable society?
Rachael Kimble 4/29/2022 10:14 AMEquity for the gender diverse is important for a sustainable society because we are all human, and regardless of how we identify we are valuable contributors to society and our planet. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityDo you have any tips for others on finding locations that accept products for safe disposal?
Rachael Kimble 4/29/2022 9:51 AMMost pharmacies will dispose of medications for you but I was surprised on the amount of meds that you are advised to flush! Also, used needles can go in your household trash as long as they are in a container. Seems dangerous! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodWhat place in your region are you most excited to visit during your staycation?
Rachael Kimble 4/29/2022 9:49 AMI will be planning our staycation to visit the mountains around cle elum and explore new areas for a few days. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat was something important you learned about renter rights and affordable housing?
Rachael Kimble 4/29/2022 9:47 AMWhat I found interesting about renters right was reading the statistics for the family that were unable to pay their rent during covid, but also the families or individuals that would default on their mortgages because they could not evict the tenant who could not pay. Also, the small amount of individuals that own rentals vs. married couples was interesting but makes sense as married couples have a higher change of having dual incomes. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?
Rachael Kimble 4/29/2022 9:36 AMWow, I've always considered myself fairly water conscious, but the results definitely were humbling! Not sure how they get the water footprint from the $ amount i spend on dog food, but it doubled our household water consumption!! I'll be looking more into the specifics. I know meat is a large factor but want to look into the calculation more. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Rachael Kimble 4/07/2022 9:51 AMObesity, social reclusivity, disconnection with our earth, and the increased negative influence of media.
