REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat was surprising about the ingredients in your cleaning supplies, personal care, and pet products?
Michelle Gisby 4/01/2022 4:08 PMI was pleased to confirm that Mrs. Meyer's (my favorite cleaning brand) is indeed cruelty-free, 100% vegan, uses plant-based ingredients and recyclable packaging, and offers refills so products aren't single-use only. Unfortunately, Mrs. Meyer's parent company SC Johnson is not cruelty-free. That is very disappointing and leaves me feeling conflicted. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat was the tastiest meatless or vegan meal you ever had or had recently? Did you make it? Can you share a recipe?
Michelle Gisby 4/01/2022 2:48 PMMy husband's meatless meatloaf was one of the best meatloafs I've ever had. I'll have to see if he can remember how he did it so we can share the recipe! (I'm pretty sure he substituted with lots of mushrooms and oats) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodHow does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Michelle Gisby 4/01/2022 2:43 PMToday, it reminded me that a good, brisk walk helps to refresh my mind. I could use the exercise, too. If I chose to walk to and from work, no car/walk instead = good for me/good for the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWith 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?
Michelle Gisby 4/01/2022 7:33 AMI’m going to get timers for our bathrooms. I think that will help - for my son especially-
Kaci Caldwell 4/03/2022 10:59 AMSo funny, I actually put a kitchen timer in my kids bathroom yesterday. My son was shocked at how long his shower was. Now we have a healthy competition going on. :-) -

Michelle Gisby 3/31/2022 1:37 PMHey friends, I found instructions to add the EcoChallenge site as an app to your smartphone or tablet homescreen. I'm hoping this will make it easier for me to check in every day!
Under the Resources tab, choose "Resources" in the drop down menu. Scroll down until you see the link for instructions to add it to your phone or tablet.-
Pam McCormick 3/31/2022 5:28 PMAwesome intel. I was happy I could open to the url on my 📱. I probably could have last year too, but didn’t think to ask or do. Luckily one of my colleagues did at our Kick-Off event.

Michelle Gisby 3/24/2022 4:38 PMAs your Team Captains, Brian Nelson and I are excited to sweeten the deal…
In addition to all the warm and fuzzy feelings you’ll get from participating in the EcoChallenge, we’re offering up some truly awesome “zero waste kits” to the top three (3) team members with the highest total points at the end of the contest.
These kits include some very useful and eco-friendly items for any home:
· A 30-sheet roll of reusable Bamboo Towels (equal to 7-month supply of regular paper towels)· 4-piece Beeswax Food Wraps (replaces plastic wrap to keep your food fresh)· 3-piece reusable Produce Bags (use them while shopping to replace plastic produce bags)· 4-piece premium zip-locking Storage Bags (finally ditch those single-use sandwich bags)· 6-piece food-grade Stainless Steel Straws (enough to keep at home and in your purse/car for on-the-go drinks)
“How do I earn points to win these fabulous prizes”, you ask? It’s pretty darn easy, actually.
You can raise your individual score and also improve our overall team ranking by simply:
1. Uploading a profile pic2. Uploading a banner pic3. Selecting one action (or more) that you pledge to complete in April4. Submitting post to our team feed to let us know you’ve completed 1 - 3
If you’re having trouble navigating the EcoChallenge site, just reach out to Brian or myself – we’re happy to help! And stay tuned…we’re scheduling a touch base meeting through Teams next week to take a tour of the site and answer any questions.
