REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?
Aidee Garibay Mendoza 4/30/2022 1:11 PMWhat surprised me the most about the produce list is all the toxic ingredients all the products we consume daily have. This will definitely have an impact in my life. When I go grocery shopping I will definitely read my labeled before purchasing something. -
Aidee Garibay Mendoza 4/30/2022 1:02 PMThis week I challenged myself to shower with only a bucket of water. The first couple of times it was challenging since my hair is long and I needed a bit more water to rinse the shampoo. But I managed to adapt and utilize the necessary water. I also added this routine to my daughters showers and she only used up to half the bucket. -
Aidee Garibay Mendoza 4/30/2022 1:00 PMThis week was more easy for me. My shower time decreased and I started figuring out how to manage less waste when prepping food. When I cooked eggs in the morning I saved the shells and blended them. The powder I added to my backyard garden. This also allowed me to spend more time in my garden and outdoors. -
Aidee Garibay Mendoza 4/30/2022 12:57 PMThis week was the beginning of doing some things differently from my daily routine. I started by timing my shower and from the I noticed I’d go a little beyond 5 min so I started putting timers and at the end of the week I noticed I beat most of the timers. -
Aidee Garibay Mendoza 4/30/2022 7:39 AMI always tried to add these actions to my daily life but never seemed to take 100% action. But know it’s going very good and just to know I’m making a minor change in my life that will impact our climate into reducing climate crisis encourages me to continue and add more actions to my list. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityHow did you incorporate using an entire vegetable (skins, peels, tops, and stalks) during one of your meal preps? What's something new you're going to try that is a zero-waste meal practice?
Aidee Garibay Mendoza 4/30/2022 7:29 AMToday I cooked potatoes and carrots, instead of peeling them I washed them as good as it got then I cut them and cooked them with the peels. I had a cucumber for a snack and I ate it with the peel. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWith 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?
Aidee Garibay Mendoza 4/30/2022 7:28 AMThis is a great start for me, but I would like to add a bucket of water showers for me. I already have don’t this. When I was in Mexico, I showered with a single bucket of water. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Aidee Garibay Mendoza 4/30/2022 7:26 AMThe implications are that we don’t appreciate nature and we’re damaging our brains with the consumption of screen time.-
Alyssa Phillips 4/30/2022 6:21 PMHi Aidee,
I agree with this! The constant scrolling and stimulation is making our brains forget how to create its own dopamine, and social media and other forms of screen time has become a serious addiction problem for many.
