  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Economy & Communities
Would you consider using an induction cooking surface? If you have used one before, what do you like about induction cooking?

    Lucia Garabo 4/12/2022 1:30 PM
I already use an induction cooker! I like that it is faster and typically safer than gas to use.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
Why is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?

    Lucia Garabo's avatar
    Lucia Garabo 4/11/2022 1:05 PM
My favorite pollinator is the bumble bee! I was happy to see that my wild violets that grow naturally in my backyard attract a number of local pollinators and I am currently growing wild bergamot too.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
What ecological or xeriscape landscaping practices do you have? How has your landscape changed from these practices?

    Lucia Garabo's avatar
    Lucia Garabo 4/06/2022 12:43 PM
I recently found that my backyard naturally grows violets! I also took out old invasive roots in one of my flower beds. There, I plan on planting evening primrose and sunflowers which are native plants.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Basic Needs & Security
With 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?

    Lucia Garabo's avatar
    Lucia Garabo 4/06/2022 12:36 PM
In addition to this, I have set up rain collection buckets in my backyard for watering my plants.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?

    Lucia Garabo's avatar
    Lucia Garabo 4/01/2022 12:38 PM
The most I use plastics is when I go out to eat or grab a drink somewhere during lunch or before work--I can always have my reusable cups on me so I can avoid that plastic.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
What is one way you will reduce your carbon foorprint? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your carbon footprint?

    Lucia Garabo's avatar
    Lucia Garabo 4/01/2022 6:19 AM
I will look into energy efficient options for my home to save electricity and travel to the grocery store by foot or bike instead of drive when I can.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Basic Needs & Security
What surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?

    Lucia Garabo's avatar
    Lucia Garabo 4/01/2022 6:13 AM
I was surprised at all the fruit on the Dirty Dozen list. I'll switch to going to local farmers markets to get fruit.

The most water consumption of mine comes from my shopping habits. By reducing how much I shop and shopping secondhand, I can greatly reduce how much water I consume in a day.
