What was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?

Mindful this morning was like a recalibration. I sat and looked into the ocean and breathed.

I am in Panama City beach and there are Tornado Watches. I learned the difference between a watch and warning and apparently my teenagers found my confusion hilarious.

What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

Staying inside on a screen, in my opinion, desensitizes your senses. I’m here in Panama City Beach and  as I sit still I notice my senses are so much more heightened. I could smell the rain and the sound of the ocean was like in high def! (And I have a slight hearing deficit). I felt like I could taste the salt of the ocean and my eyes seemed better focused as I looked into the horizon. The believe I’d taken for granted how wet sand feels as you build a sand castle. Priceless!

My goals are going well. It really helped that I started while I’m on PTO in Orlando. I’m enjoying family time and have time to spend some time alone in my thoughts and mindfulness.

What is easy for you to do when having a constructive conversation and what is challenging? What tips do you have for having a constructive conversation?

It is easy for me to actively listen. The challenge is to not respond when the feedback is inaccurate. I’m working on just responding with, “thank you”.
