REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodWhat place in your region are you most excited to visit during your staycation?
Allison Foster 4/30/2022 11:34 AMMost excited to visit the local climbing walls and find new camping spots during our staycation. Eventually most excited to go whale watching soon off the coast of this wonderful state! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?
Allison Foster 4/30/2022 11:33 AMSomething I've always dabbled with in and out, setting goals and this time to focus during earth month has reminded me that checking in with myself and prioritizing my health has benefits everywhere. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat was the tastiest sustainable seafood meal you ever had or had recently? Did you make it? Can you share a recipe?
Allison Foster 4/30/2022 11:31 AMTwo of the tastiest sustainable seafood meals I've ever had, one was off a boat in Mauritius where the guides spearfished and roasted them on sticks over a fire. The other was from eating and Sushi Kashiba in Washington that uses sustainable and locally caught fish. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodHow does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Allison Foster 4/30/2022 11:15 AMToday I celebrated a work-life balance by setting some time aside to go to the rock climbing gym. Getting on the wall and focusing on not only the physical challenge but also mental challenge of climbing while appreciating the balance between strength and movement that is needed to reach the top of the wall helps me reset. By resetting I can check in with myself mentally and emotionally and avoid burnout at work. By showing up for myself and allow the space to show up for others. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Allison Foster 4/28/2022 10:03 AMI've found either thrifting or renting clothes has been a great way to avoid buying more clothes. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?
Allison Foster 4/10/2022 6:54 PMI find the grocery store to be the most difficult place to avoid plastic. Things such as tofu, sauces, and others that are staples in my diet frequently come in plastic. We try to always bring our own bags, go the bulk route for our bigger items i.e. rice, nuts, etc. and I've recently found a no plastic cosmetic company that offers bamboo cases with refillable product. Another way I've began to cut plastic out of my daily routine.
