Jackie Ellerbrock 4/16/2022 10:09 AMI had a meeting with Julie Hoy who is currently running for City Council Ward 6 in Salem---
We discussed how to bring more awareness and what would be appropriate sustainable goals for the ward-- and ultimately the city -
Jackie Ellerbrock 4/07/2022 11:56 AMWe have started a Recycle Responsibly program in my neighborhood--- We have 2 Neighborhood captains and they are in charge of picking up any recycling that our elderly neighbors have so they don't have to worry about having to do it themselves.
We also have "hired" 3 neighborhood kids that want a little extra money and they are mowing the front yards of our elderly neighbors. We have agreed to the 1st Saturday of each month and doing all in the same day. The yards are relatively small so we have purchased (together) an electric mower to share with extra batteries to last the day.
I am in charge of the mower and we are taking turns at making sure all the batteries have a full charge when needed.
This not only helps our environment but also gives us a chance to visit with our neighbors that don't have a lot of interaction. During the summer we have planned a block BBQ to celebrate how much recycling we have done. -

Jackie Ellerbrock 4/04/2022 9:55 AMThe changing climate is having a significant impact with Oregon growing progressively warmer, we have seen more severe wildfires and the undergoing shift of seasons is resulting in less snowpack and lower summer stream flows -
