This month I also joined a beautiful project in my community which consist of gathering organic waste (which is not garbage) from our home and "Hagamos composta" group do the rest! They collect it every week and make compost! It´s a way we ensure our community become more sustainable. They have presence in many states across Mexico and actually 2 places abroad.

    Health & Equity
How is food equity and access linked to a sustainable future?

If food access would be ensured in every community, also would be the supply from local producers and that would be directly related to sustainability. Also, the products consumed might be less processed and in consecuence the food quality ealthier.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?

Less laundry, dry clean and wash (and use) the car as less as possible. A practice I already have that reduce a lot my water footprint is my vegetarian diet.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?

    Liz Díaz's avatar
    Liz Díaz 4/28/2022 9:36 PM
I was surprised by the 1st and 2nd place of the dirty dozen list becase I use to consume a lot of strawberries and spinachs. The good news is, when I buy berries, it is from local and small producers of a region very close to my city and are supposedly organic. Actually, they don´t sell them packed in single use plastic containers, but in a 1lt container that can be reused many times at home.
I will definetely have the lists in mind when grocery shopping.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Liz Díaz's avatar
    Liz Díaz 4/28/2022 9:17 PM
It is always nice to have a healthy exchange of ideas. I think it´s important to maintain active listening and to be empathic, otherwise this could be the challenging part if we are not willing to.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Would you consider using an induction cooking surface? If you have used one before, what do you like about induction cooking?

    Liz Díaz's avatar
    Liz Díaz 4/26/2022 8:15 PM
Of course I´d consider it! I´ve used one before when I was studying abroad and I liked it because it´s safer, cleaner, more precise (cooking time) and sustainable.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

With 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?

    Liz Díaz's avatar

Try to re-use as much as possible my clothes to reduce the usage of laundry machines.

Do you know most of the cleaning products we frequently used at our homes are big sources of air and water pollution? Also, many plastic waste to our planet and lots of chemical and toxic ingredients to our bodys!
We should all use instead eco-friendly and non toxic products. Do you already use them?
