    External shading devises like fixed louvers in front of windows reduce the solar influx on your windows, and reduce the air-conditioning needs big time!

    Use solar panels to generate hot water for your house in lieu of gas or electricity. Many European and African countries have switched over to this, and they save on monthly utility bills, and reduce carbon.

    Replace all incandescent lights in your house with LED lights, and put outside lights on timers or day night sensors - save energy and reduce carbons

    This is so exciting -especially that this announcement was made during the Eco challenge.
    SA = South Africa, my home country. They are progressively pushing green buildings the last 10 years.

    Set an example. Talk to people in your neighborhood, talk to the parents of the kids that goes to the same school as your kids, or in the same sport team as your kids. One on one engagement.
