I wouldn't say I'm skilled, but one thing I learned repairing a pair of hiking pants is that bias tape makes a nice backing for repairing tears. That pair of pants has had a lot of repairs (I'm rough on gear; they got their first rip within a few weeks of purchase) and they don't look great, but they're functional, and that's good enough for hiking pants.

REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat was it like to mend your clothing? If you are skilled at mending, what tips do you have for others?
Jennifer Davis 4/20/2022 8:57 PMIt was satisfying. I'd hate to throw out one of my favorite skirts just because some of the stitching at the zipper had come out.

REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat was the tastiest meatless or vegan meal you ever had or had recently? Did you make it? Can you share a recipe?
Jennifer Davis 4/01/2022 9:24 PMHere's a broccoli and potato soup that I like. The first time I made it, I was trying to get rid of Costco packs of frozen broccoli that had been in my freezer for a really long time. After the soup was blended, you couldn't even tell it was made from weird freezer broccoli. Works perfectly well with fresh broccoli, too.
