REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat was it like to create a readiness plan? Did you find other resources you could share?
Jamie Damato 4/22/2022 2:14 PMIt was truly an insightful experience. It is amazing to learn the vulnerabilities you have in your home when you coordinate a readiness plan. I found a number of resources, including habitat.org, redcross.org, militaryonesource.mil and cdc.org (to name a few). I highly recommend EVERYONE do this as you never know when SHTF and you don't want to be wasting precious moments trying to figure out what to do. -
Jamie Damato 4/15/2022 8:37 AMThanks to my daily challenge of learning about my cleaning products, I found a website that has a great guide for healthy cleaning. You can see potential harmful effects of various ingredients that are in specific products (https://www.ewg.org/guides/cleaners/) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?
Jamie Damato 4/01/2022 2:36 PMFood packaging and single-use straws/utensils are always a problem for me as they are hard to get away from, due to convenience. Instead of shopping from big box supermarkets/stores, I try to get my produce and other food straight from the source...whether a farm stand or local market where I can bring my own packaging/bags and stay away from the plastic packaging. Each time I am presented with a single-use utensil/straw situation, I make it a point to politely decline the utensils from the vendor and use my own stainless straw or utensil kit (or regular silverware if bringing the items home). I think, based on the impact it can make, it is worth the sacrifice in convenience.
