REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?
Ryan Burgener 4/12/2022 6:23 AMPollinators are near and dear to my heart. I have a top bar hive and keep Italian honeybees - it is mutually beneficial! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?
Ryan Burgener 4/12/2022 6:20 AMDuring peak pandemic we relied heavily on grocery pickups which we quickly realized came with an enormous amount of plastic waste (does every single lemon need its own bag?).
Since then I've tried to forego the convenience factor whenever possible and shop using my own reusable bags. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat was the tastiest meatless or vegan meal you ever had or had recently? Did you make it? Can you share a recipe?
Ryan Burgener 4/07/2022 6:48 AMI'm a big fan of Indian flavors so recently we've started incorporating a lot of lentil curry dishes into rotation. Cheap, filling, and VERY tasty! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat is one invasive species in your region and how does it impact your region's ecosystem?
Ryan Burgener 4/05/2022 6:44 PMChinese privet runs rampant in our area and crowds out native shrubs and flowers. After seeing this daily action I found a bush in the woods behind my house: a new weekend project!-
Megan Scott 4/05/2022 6:59 PMBradford Pear Trees are invasive. They kill off our native species as they grow quickly and greedily. They also make thorns when growing in natural forests, making forest less accessible.

REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityHow did you incorporate using an entire vegetable (skins, peels, tops, and stalks) during one of your meal preps? What's something new you're going to try that is a zero-waste meal practice?
Ryan Burgener 4/04/2022 12:26 PMThis challenge inspired me to restart my worm bin - an easy way to turn these plant scraps into rich compost.
The other leftovers went to the chickens. Waste free!-

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Ryan Burgener 4/01/2022 6:31 AMThe health benefits - both physically and mentally - of spending time outdoors are well documented. With this in mind I'm planning to build time into my day to step outside, even if it's only for a few minutes!
